Easter might be just around the corner but supermarkets have been stocking Easter goodies for months.  After all who doesn't enjoy a freshly toasted hot cross bun or an Easter egg?  There is nothing wrong with treating yourself but it's also important to take advantage of the long weekend and get active outdoors.

Below is a list of popular Easter treats and what it takes to burn off those extra kilojoules.  Just a little something to think about before the Easter bunny comes to town.

 

  • 4 small solid chocolate eggs, 601 kJ   = 30 minutes brisk walking
  • 2 mini caramello eggs, 508 kJ             = 14 minutes swimming laps
  • 1 creme egg, 718 kJ                            = 13 minutes skipping
  • Chocolate egg (100 g), 3157 kJ          = 1 hour and 13 minutes of cycling
  • Bunny (150 g) = 3345 kJ                     = 1 hour and 8 minutes of running
  • Hot cross bun = 1173 kj                      = 1 hour and 12 minutes of frisbee
  • Hot cross bun with butter = 1401 kj    = 37 minutes of soccer
