Understanding Diabetes: Diabetes Education for Care Workers

 

Understanding Diabetes is a two-hour workshop for personal care workers, assistants in nursing and other care providers who support and care for people living with diabetes.

 

The aim of the program is to provide best practice education for care workers supporting clients in disability services, aged care, community clinics, rural settings and hospitals.

 

Understanding Diabetes offers an interactive learning environment to assist care workers to support self-management in clients and patients with diabetes.

 

The workshop includes:

 

  • What is diabetes?
  • How is diabetes managed?
  • Healthy eating and physical activity
  • Managing high and low blood glucose levels
  • The diabetes health care team.

 

Understanding Diabetes workshops can be available upon request by organisations for staff at your facility or at a venue of your choosing.
