Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes
Help stem the type 2 diabetes surge
More than 191,000 Queenslanders have type 2 diabetes, with about
93,000 people undiagnosed. There are 60 new cases of type 2
diabetes diagnosed in Queensland every day. By 2031 it is
expected there will be 160 new cases diagnosed daily in
Queensland.
As a health professional, you are at the frontline in helping to
turn diabetes around. Diabetes Queensland offers a number of
services and programs aimed at preventing or delaying the onset of
type 2 diabetes. Up to 60 per cent of type 2 diabetes is
preventable through healthier living, including increased physical
activity and healthier food choices.

health professionals reduce the number of Queenslanders at risk of
