Diabetes and Driving
It is a privilege to drive a motor vehicle and with it comes
major personal and legal responsibilities and liabilities. The
National Diabetes Services Scheme 'Diabetes and Driving' provides
advice on the extra precautions needed to be taken to help maximise
road safety.

The National Transport Commission also have information
available regarding assessing fitness to drive on the Austroads website.
Older people
With increasing age, the number of people with diabetes also
increases. Approximately 50% of all Australians with diabetes are
aged 65 years or older.
Resources specifically to assist in the management of diabetes
in older people are available. Information for older people with
diabetes for health professionals and people living with
diabetes.
Pregnancy and diabetes
The NDSS Diabetes in Pregnancy National Development Programme
has developed resources to help provide information for women with
type 1 or type 2 diabetes who are planning a pregnancy now or in
the future, including a website dedicated to pregnancy and diabetes
information and babybooklets providing comprehensive information on
planning and managing pregnancy. Separate booklets are available
for women with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
