DESMOND Program - information and registration

DESMOND (Diabetes Education and Self-Management for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed) is an evidence-based education program designed to support people living with type 2 diabetes. Funding to support this program is provided by the National Diabetes Services Scheme.

The program recognises there is no "one size fits all" approach to diabetes management, providing participants a welcoming, non-judgemental space to explore and plan how they would like to manage their condition.

Registering your patients or clients

Bookings are essential for all DESMOND sessions. To reserve a spot on one of our next DESMOND courses or if you simply want to know more, call us on 1800 177 055 or email

What's involved?

The workshops are free to attend and are usually run in one full-day session, 9am-3.30pm.

The program is built around group activities, with participants sharing experiences and talking about what type 2 diabetes means to them. It is facilitated by specialised DESMOND trained health professionals.

Groups can take up to 10 participants living with diabetes, and each participant can bring a partner or friend with them for support.
