Diabetes Update for Support Workers
Diabetes Update for Support Workers is a two hour workshop for personal care workers, assistants in nursing and other care providers who support and care for people living with diabetes. This program can be delivered via a face to face session or zoom.
The workshop aims to provide best practice education for care workers supporting clients in disability services, aged care, community clinics, rural settings and hospitals.
The interactive learning environment helps care workers understand how to support self-management in clients and patients with diabetes.
The workshop includes:
- What is diabetes?
- How is diabetes managed?
- Healthy eating and physical activity
- Managing high and low blood glucose levels
- The diabetes health care team.
A minimum of 10 attendees are required for face to face programs, and a minimum of 5 attendees are required for online zoom programs
If a venue can be provided the cost of this program is subsidised by the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS). If Diabetes Queensland is required to book a venue for your program a fee of $20 per person will apply.
