Michael Pitman

Type 2

Boondall’s Michael Pitman, 53, was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 13 years ago. “I tried to manage it myself for many years with a better diet and activity, but without medication. I lost 30kg, but it was never explained to me the long-term consequences of diabetes without the help of medication.” Michael had a heart attack two years ago and has peripheral neuropathy in his feet. “I’m on medication now for type 2, and I’m doing much better. I’m still making the same good choices with diet, could always be more active, but am now having regular consultations and blood tests. I keep a constant eye on all the key factors.”
