Type 2 diabetes

Diabetes Australia - Queensland offers a number of programs and services designed to support and educate people living with type 2 diabetes.  The programs are offered with support and funding from the NDSS. For more information on any of the services below, please click on the headings.


Stepping Forward

A one day combined education event for people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes and their families/carers.  The program covers a wide range of topics such as travel, exercise and teeth and eye care.


EXPOsing Diabetes

A comprehensive educational program for people with type 2 diabetes. The program is delivered as a consumer expo throughout metropolitan and regional Queensland.


Diabetes - What Now?

A program for people who are newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, or who have not had any education on diabetes management. The free two-hour sessions, run over two weeks, are full of useful information to help you feel confient about managing your diabetes. 


Virtual Supermarket Tours

The workshops are conducted by a qualified dietitian and provide information for people with type 2 diabetes on reading food labels, common nutritional claims, food symbols and ingredients lists. 


Got Suga

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have 'got suga' - a common term for type 2 diabetes - are learning to better manage their condition through Diabetes Queensland's Got Suga program.
