First Nations Health Unit
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
Diabetes Queensland provides a voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living with diabetes, advocating for their health and wellbeing as an urgent priority.
We lobby State and Federal Governments to provide services for our First Nations People aligning with the National Diabetes Strategy and recommendations from communities across Queensland.
We work with communities, the health sector and government agencies to develop and deliver culturally appropriate education with programs for Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders living with diabetes and their families. Our initiatives include:
-
- Diabetes Queensland First Nations Health Community Facebook page
- Our YouTube channel
- Diabetes Queensland Reconciliation Action Plan
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce enewsletter – If you would like to subscribe to our health workforce enewsletter, please contact us at firstnationshealth@diabetesqld.org.au.
